In the Kauru Emirate of Kaduna State, Mallam Babangida Sogiji, the community leader of Unguwan Babangida, along with 11 others, has been kidnapped during two separate assaults on the Libere and Unguwan Babangida communities. This alarming situation highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the region.
On Thursday, around noon, four individuals—Pheobe Adauji, Cecilia Moses, Tambaya, and his wife—were taken while they were busy harvesting crops on their farms. This incident underscores the vulnerability of residents engaged in agricultural activities.
The following morning, the attackers returned to Unguwan Babangida, where they abducted six additional residents, including the community leader himself. This pattern of repeated attacks raises concerns about the safety of the local populace.
Among those kidnapped were two seasonal workers from Jigawa State, who had traveled to the area to participate in agricultural work. Their abduction illustrates how the violence affects not only local residents but also those who come from other regions for work.
Aminu Khalid, the youth leader of the Dokan Karji community, expressed frustration over the situation. He mentioned that they are still awaiting communication from the kidnappers regarding ransom or negotiations, reflecting the uncertainty faced by the families of the victims.
Khalid further emphasized the deteriorating security conditions, noting that the incidents have instilled widespread fear in Libere and nearby communities. Many residents have been compelled to flee their homes due to the escalating violence.

These bandits continue to operate with impunity, occupying more villages within the local government area and causing havoc in various communities. The lack of effective response to these threats is alarming and raises questions about the safety of the region.
Efforts to contact the Kaduna State Police spokesman, Mansir Hassan, for comments on the situation were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls at the time of this report. This lack of communication adds to the community’s concerns regarding their safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing these issues.
