The Senate is set to screen the ministerial nominees forwarded for confirmation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today. This important session follows the nominees’ clearance by the Department of State Service (DSS), which took place prior to their scheduled screening.
Recently, President Tinubu reshuffled his cabinet, resulting in the dismissal of six ministers and the appointment of seven new ones. Additionally, he reallocated the portfolios of ten other ministers, indicating a significant restructuring of his administration.
In anticipation of the screening, the nominees flocked to the office of Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, to submit their resumes. This rush was to ensure they met the deadline for documentation ahead of the Senate’s review.

Senator Lado confirmed that the nominees were in the process of completing their documentation. This preparation is crucial as it precedes their formal screening and confirmation by the Senate, which is set to take place at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Among the nominees appearing for screening today are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, who is designated for the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction portfolio. His experience and background will be scrutinized as part of the confirmation process.
Also on the list is Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, nominated for Labour and Employment, and Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, who is set to take on the role of Foreign Affairs – State. Their qualifications and plans for their respective ministries will be key points of discussion during the screening.
Further nominees include Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, who will be responsible for Industry, Trade and Development, and Idi Muktar Maiha, nominated for Livestock Development. The Senate will evaluate their capabilities to handle the challenges in these critical sectors.
Lastly, Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata has been nominated for Housing – State, and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad for Education – State. The Senate’s assessment of these candidates will play a vital role in shaping the government’s direction in these areas.
