Governor Uba Sani has officially approved the 2025 budget aimed at Sustaining Transformation and Inclusive Development, just ten days after presenting the draft proposal to the Kaduna State House of Assembly. The budget emphasizes rural development and totals N790,439,580,083.
The allocation for capital and recurrent expenditures is N551,582,867,194 and N238,856,712,888.86, respectively.
After signing the budget on Monday, the Governor praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for its swift approval of the 2025 budget within just ten days of the proposal’s presentation. He noted that the legislature had called upon all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to justify their budget requests, resulting in thorough discussions, ultimately leading to the passage of the budget.
“In Kaduna State, I can confidently say we have the best House of Assembly in the country. Despite the presence of both APC and PDP members, they have set aside politics to concentrate on governance, which I find highly commendable,” he stated. “About ten days ago, I presented our 2025 budget proposal in the House of Assembly. All MDAs participated in defending their budgets, and I followed the debate, which was one of the most comprehensive budget defenses in Kaduna State’s history.
The legislators passed the appropriation bill in just ten days, a feat I take pride in. Besides the budget, the number of motions and bills they have sponsored further affirms that this is the best state assembly.”
“As a former Senator with the highest number of bills in the last senate, having sponsored over 32 bills, I believe no one can better commend our lawmakers than I can,” he added.
Earlier, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Hon Yusuf Liman, remarked that the Governor’s signing of the 2025 budget signifies a significant achievement for the Assembly. He mentioned that the budget proposal underwent rigorous examination before being approved by the legislators and expressed gratitude to the Governor for collaborating closely with the Assembly to deliver the benefits of democracy to the people of Kaduna State.
“The commitment of the Uba Sani-led administration to foster an environment conducive to developmental projects across the state cannot be overstated,” he stated.
The Speaker highlighted that Governor Uba Sani has not only continued with some previously stalled projects but has also initiated commendable new ones, emphasizing his dedication to rural development.
Providing a breakdown of the 2025 budget, the Commissioner of Planning and Budget, Alhaji Mukhtar Ahmed Morovia, indicated that Education received the largest share at 26%, followed by Health at 16%, while Public Infrastructure and Agriculture received 13% and 9.5%, respectively. He noted that these allocations reflect the administration’s focus on human capital development and agriculture.

“This is the second budget of His Excellency, and he has prioritized Agriculture. While we allocated 7% this year, Agriculture will receive 9.5% in 2025 due to its significant impact. His Excellency has stated that 42% of our GDP comes from Agriculture, and I am confident that if we maintain this momentum, it will increase by next year,” the Commissioner assured.
