Abdullahi Kano
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has stressed the significance of reinvigorating the industries in Kano to tackle the growing issue of social vices in the state. Dr. Umar Faruk Gwani, the chairman of the forum, made this statement at an event organized by the Mai Biyayya Foundation in Kano. Dr. Umar Faruk Gwani highlighted that reviving closed industries would result in more job opportunities, particularly for young people, and would significantly reduce social vices such as thuggery, armed robbery, drug abuse, and other criminal activities. He called on the federal, state, and local governments to intensify their efforts in revitalizing industries to create more job opportunities for the youth in the state, with the aim of contributing to the nation’s economy.
Malam Kabiru Ishaq Sa’id, the President of the Mai Biyayya Foundation, revealed the foundation’s initiative to sponsor the education of 5,000 orphans up to the tertiary level, with the goal of securing a better future for them. He mentioned that the foundation is currently collecting data on out-of-school orphans to ensure that necessary arrangements are made to achieve the set objectives. The event was attended by philanthropists, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
