Amazon and Apple are encountering hurdles in integrating generative AI technology into their digital assistants, Alexa and Siri, according to recent reports. Amazon had initially planned to unveil its generative AI-powered Alexa during an event in New York on February 26. However, the release has been postponed to March or later, as reported by The Washington Post. The delay highlights the challenges Amazon faces in refining the technology to meet user expectations.
Similarly, Apple’s efforts to overhaul Siri with advanced AI capabilities are hitting roadblocks. According to Bloomberg, engineering issues and software bugs have disrupted the timeline for Siri’s updates. Features originally slated for an April release may now be delayed until May or beyond.
These setbacks come as competition in the AI voice assistant space intensifies. Both Amazon and Apple are striving to catch up with rivals like OpenAI and Google, which have already made significant strides in AI-driven voice technology.
