Air Peace Increases Lagos-Abuja Ticket Price to N200,000 Starting in November.

Air Peace lists ticket prices of N200,000 and above for a one-way trip between Lagos and Abuja on its website, while Aero charges between N94,000 and N109,000. Arik Air fares range from N104,405 to N139,292, and Ibom Air prices fall between N124,000 and N133,000.

These high airfares have left many passengers stranded at airports, unable to secure flights to their destinations. The Lagos-Abuja and Abuja-Lagos routes, being the busiest, are particularly affected, with many travelers struggling to find available seats.

An official from Air Peace, speaking anonymously, confirmed the fare hike and attributed it to Nigeria’s worsening economic situation. “If you check the breakdown of the ticket price, you’ll see that we’re barely surviving as an airline. The cost of running the business is becoming uncontrollable. We have no choice but to raise prices due to the numerous taxes, which all go to the government,” she explained.

Efforts to reach the airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Toyin Olajide, for comment were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to calls or messages.

A businessman, Adeleke Aina, who has been flying for years, expressed frustration with the increasing fares. “Airfares keep skyrocketing with no clear explanation beyond ‘economic reasons.’ I may have to switch to road transport. The rising fuel costs and the government’s indifference to this situation are worrying. I fear for this country,” he said.
