As music lovers everywhere get ready for their Spotify Wrapped updates, Apple Music has rolled out its own version called Apple Music Replay, which is now available to everyone. This feature works similarly to Spotify Wrapped by showing users a summary of their music listening habits over the past year. It highlights the songs, artists, and albums that users streamed the most throughout the year.
This year’s Apple Music Replay comes with some extra features. One new addition is called “listening streaks,” which tracks how many days in a row you listened to music on the platform. This means you can easily see how dedicated you were to your music during certain periods of the year.
Moreover, Replay tells you the exact date you first listened to your top song, favorite artist, and most-loved album from the past year. It also allows you to look back month by month, showing you which songs, artists, and albums were your favorites during each month over the entire year. Additionally, there’s a feature called “top artist streaks,” which reveals whether you had the same artist as your No. 1 pick for multiple months in a row.
In previous years, Apple Music Replay told users if they were in the top 100 listeners for a specific artist or genre. This year, they’re making it even more interesting by adding new categories that show if you fall within the top 500 or even the top 1,000 listeners of an artist.
After if you want to enjoy your music highlights from the year again, you can listen to all of your most-played songs in a personalized Replay 2024 playlist, which Apple creates for you.
In previous years, users could only view their Apple Music Replay summary on the web. However, this time around, Apple is making it more convenient by allowing users with iOS 18.1 or later to access their Replay directly in the Apple Music app. You can find it easily by looking in the Home, New, and Search tabs.
For those using older iOS versions or Android devices, you can still access your Replay by logging into the web version, whether on your mobile device or desktop computer.
In addition to the user-focused features, Apple Music is also introducing a Replay feature for artists, similar to Spotify’s Artist Wrapped. This allows artists to see how many total minutes their music has been listened to by Apple Music users throughout the year, how many unique listeners they had, the cities where their music was most popular, and even which of their songs was most frequently discovered through the Shazam app.
Apple Music’s Replay update comes just after YouTube launched its own feature called 2024 Recaps, and both are aiming to beat Spotify to the punch in sharing year-end music highlights and encouraging fans to share their musical experiences across social media.
