Bauchi VC Denies Facebook Account.

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi has taken steps to distance itself from a fraudulent social media account that falsely claims to represent the university’s vice-chancellor, Sani Kunya. This clarification comes in response to concerns raised by a concerned individual regarding a fake Facebook account created in the vice-chancellor’s name. The university’s administration aims to protect its reputation and ensure the safety of its stakeholders.

In a press release issued on Monday by Zailani Bappa, the Director of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, the university emphasized the deceptive nature of the social media account. The statement highlighted that the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Usman Kunya, was alerted to this issue by a good Samaritan who encountered the fraudulent account. The intent behind this deception appears to be to scam unsuspecting individuals.

The press release detailed a specific incident involving a screenshot of a transaction between the good Samaritan and the fake account. This transaction revealed an attempt to entice the individual into providing a significant sum of money for a supposed contract award. Such fraudulent activities can have serious implications, not only for victims but also for the integrity of the university.

To further clarify, the university reiterated that the Acting Vice-Chancellor does not engage in any official transactions through social media platforms. The statement firmly asserted that no financial favors would ever be solicited from anyone for any purpose via these channels. This stance reinforces the university’s commitment to transparency and ethical conduct.

In conclusion, ATBU has urged the public and its stakeholders to remain vigilant against such scams. The university is dedicated to ensuring that its community is informed and protected from fraudulent activities. By distancing itself from the fake account, ATBU aims to maintain trust and uphold its reputation as a reputable institution of higher learning.
