Anthropic has launched new desktop apps for their AI chatbot, Claude, which are now available for both Mac and Windows users in a public beta. This means you can use Claude right on your computer to help with various tasks, making it easier to integrate into your daily work. However, these apps don’t yet include a new feature that allows the latest version of Claude to carry out tasks directly on your PC.
Both free users and those who pay for premium plans can use these new desktop apps.

Additionally, Anthropic has introduced a dictation tool for Claude, which allows users on iOS, Android, and iPadOS to record messages that can be transcribed and responded to by Claude. But, this dictation feature isn’t available in the desktop apps yet, and it works like sending a voice message rather than having a live conversation.

These updates come as Anthropic is reportedly close to raising a significant amount of money, valuing the company at over $40 billion, as they strive to keep Claude competitive with other AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
