Davido, Olamide, and Ayra Starr Set to Headline Flytime’s 20th Anniversary Celebrations from December 22-25

The 20th edition of the Flytime Music Festival, taking place from December 22-25 in Lagos, promises to be a remarkable event as West Africa’s longest-running music festival brand celebrates its 20th anniversary.

In their signature grand style, they have assembled a stellar lineup of both local and international music icons to celebrate this milestone event. Headlining are four-time Grammy-nominated Davido, Nigerian rap legend Olamide, and Afro-pop sensation Ayra Starr, who will be performing her first solo concert following her tour with Coldplay. Additionally, the lineup features international artist Gunna, making his debut performance in Africa.

Flytime: A Pioneer in the Afrobeats Movement

Flytime has long been a champion of Afrobeats, supporting the genre well before it captured global attention. By bridging cultural divides, Flytime has played a crucial role in introducing international stars to African audiences. Notable artists such as Ashanti, Roddy Ricch, and Craig David have graced Flytime stages during their peak, showcasing the festival’s commitment to fostering a vibrant musical exchange.

Significant Moments in Flytime History

Wizkid and Tems Collaboration: One of the most memorable moments in Flytime’s history occurred at Rhythm Unplugged, where Wizkid first encountered Tems. This pivotal meeting led to their collaboration on the critically acclaimed hit song “Essence,” which has since become a global phenomenon, further solidifying the influence of Afrobeats on the international music scene.

Bridging Cultures

Flytime’s dedication to promoting Afrobeats goes beyond just performances. The festival has created a platform for cultural exchange, allowing African artists to connect with international acts and vice versa. This has not only enriched the local music scene but has also contributed to the global rise of Afrobeats, making it a staple in playlists worldwide.
