Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has taken legal action by filing a N100 million petition against her colleague Queeneth Hilbert, accusing her of defamation. This lawsuit stems from Hilbert’s public allegations that Etiko has been involved in snatching the boyfriends of her fellow actresses.
According to reports from DANDALI, the controversy began when Queeneth Hilbert publicly called out Etiko on social media, claiming that she had taken her wealthy boyfriend, as well as the partners of other colleagues in the industry. These serious accusations prompted a swift response from Etiko, who felt compelled to defend her reputation.
In her petition, filed through her legal representatives, Etiko has given Hilbert a 48-hour ultimatum to retract the alleged defamatory statements and issue a public apology. The cease-and-desist letter, which was signed by legal representatives Chisom Onugah and C.C. Nwabundo on Saturday, outlines Etiko’s demands, including the payment of N100 million in damages for the harm caused to her reputation.
To further emphasize her stance, Etiko shared the cease-and-desist letter on her Instagram page, where she firmly denied the allegations made by Hilbert. She suggested that the accusations were motivated by a desire for material gain, implying that Hilbert’s claims were unfounded and intended to tarnish her image.
This legal battle highlights the growing tensions within the Nollywood industry, where personal relationships and public perceptions can significantly impact actors’ careers. As the situation unfolds, many fans and industry observers are closely watching to see how both parties will navigate this contentious dispute and what implications it may have for their professional lives.
