Google has just unveiled a prototype of their new augmented reality (AR) glasses, which are part of a project called Project Astra. This means that they are testing these glasses in real-world situations to see how well they work. The goal behind these glasses is to eventually create devices that combine augmented reality—where digital images are overlaid on the real world—with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features. While they work towards this long-term vision, Google plans to showcase demonstrations of the glasses to attract interest from everyday consumers, software developers, and even their competitors in the tech industry.

In addition to the glasses, Google has introduced a new operating system called Android XR. This system is designed specifically for creating experiences on XR (extended reality) devices, which include AR glasses and virtual reality headsets. The Android XR operating system will power the Project Astra glasses and will also be used in a new headset called Project Moohan, which is being developed in collaboration with Samsung and is expected to be available for purchase next year.
