Dolly Parton’s husband has passed away.

Carl Dean, Husband of Dolly Parton, Passes Away at 82

Carl Dean, the beloved husband of country music icon Dolly Parton, has sadly passed away at the age of 82. The couple enjoyed a remarkable marriage that lasted nearly 60 years, although Dean famously preferred to stay out of the public eye, allowing Parton to shine as a superstar.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on X (formerly Twitter), Parton expressed her deep sorrow, stating, “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.” Her words reflect the profound bond they cultivated throughout their long life together.

Dolly first met Carl Dean in 1964 outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville, Tennessee. At just 18 years old, she was captivated by the 21-year-old Dean, who stood out to her for his genuine interest. “I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me),” she reminisced. This initial connection blossomed into a deep relationship, as she noted, “He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about.”

The couple tied the knot two years later, in May 1966, in a simple yet intimate ceremony that included only Parton’s mother, the officiating preacher, and his wife. Their marriage, marked by love and mutual respect, became a testament to their commitment to one another despite the pressures of fame.

Throughout their time together, Dean remained a supportive partner, often avoiding the limelight while encouraging Parton’s flourishing career. Their enduring love story serves as an inspiration, showcasing the strength of their relationship amid the challenges of public life.
