Babcock Academy urged the graduating class to dream big, work hard, and stay connected to their roots.
The graduation and award ceremony was held at the Babcock Academy Auditorium.
Dr. Gabriel Fasanu, the Principal of Babcock Academy, addressed the attendees, noting that this event marked the eighth graduation and award ceremony for the prestigious institution.
Fasanu emphasized the importance of the term “Aureate,” which represents golden quality and is often associated with warmth, richness, and opulence.
In his reflections, he acknowledged the graduates’ journey through various challenges, including personal and financial difficulties, as well as their successes in overcoming demanding subjects.
“Dear SS3 students, you have faced numerous obstacles and tough experiences, from family issues to the pressures of school fees and rigorous exams.
“Always remember to have a dream and strive toward it. May you find your true self as soon as possible. As you are blessed, do not forget your roots or lose sight of your origins,” he advised.
The ceremony also honored the contributions of previous administrations, including the founding Principal, Dr. Bolanle Adebawojo, and the immediate past principal, Elder Samuel Obot.
Their leadership has been instrumental in the growth and development of Babcock Academy, a fact that Fasanu recognized and celebrated.
Professor Mobolanle Sotunsa, Director of the Babcock University Centre for Open, Distance, and E-learning, addressed the evolving nature of communication.
She emphasized that communication goes beyond merely talking, writing, or texting; it involves connecting, sharing ideas, and influencing the world.
Sotunsa encouraged graduates to embrace technology, using it to innovate, connect, and create a positive impact.
Professor Abiodun Adesegun, Chairman of the Babcock University Schools’ Board, urged graduates to uphold their values even in difficult situations, drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Daniel.
He commended both graduates and their parents for their dedication and sacrifices, recognizing the vital support provided by families and teachers.
“You are fortunate to have received this education, and I commend your parents for their sacrifices. Let’s give them a round of applause for ensuring that you could pursue your education without hindrance,” Professor Adesegun stated. “You have been equipped with the skills necessary for the next level, whether at Babcock University or beyond. You are well-prepared to excel in all aspects of life.”
He acknowledged the unique challenges faced by today’s youth, including the pervasive influence of the internet and social media. Despite these hurdles, the institution has played a significant role in guiding the Aureate class during their formative years, providing blessings and encouragement to help them make a positive impact and shine brightly.
Graduate Ezeama Precious expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, teachers, and support staff for their unwavering support and encouragement.
She urged her peers to also show appreciation to those who have assisted them on their journey, including family, friends, and educators.
