The internet has been buzzing following the release of a mugshot of the famous crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bobrisky was apprehended by EFCC agents at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on April 3, 2024, around 3 PM.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest, stating that Bobrisky is facing charges related to currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.
According to Oyewale, Bobrisky is currently being held at the EFCC facility in Lagos and is expected to appear in court soon.
In a statement posted on their official Instagram account, the EFCC clarified that Bobrisky’s arrest was prompted by a video in which he was seen spraying and flaunting stacks of new Naira notes during the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, “Ajajaku.”
Further investigations uncovered similar incidents involving Bobrisky at various events.
The situation has sparked widespread discussion online, highlighting the ongoing issues surrounding currency regulations in Nigeria.
