Elon Musk’s company, xAI, has updated its AI chatbot called Grok to allow it to understand images. This means that if you’re a paying user on Musk’s social platform, X (formerly Twitter), you can now upload an image and ask the AI questions about it.
An employee from xAI and the official Grok account shared this news on X. Musk mentioned that Grok can even explain jokes in images using this new feature, although he noted that it’s still in the early stages and will get better over time.
Back in August, xAI launched an improved version of the chatbot called Grok-2, which can create images using technology from another company. Like before, this version is available to developers and premium users of X who pay for the service.

Musk also hinted that Grok might soon be able to understand documents like PDFs, responding to a user who criticized its current limitations by saying they’ll be able to do this quickly.
The social network is working on adding more features to both the AI chatbot and the paid user options to make it more appealing. Earlier this month, X introduced a new tool called Radar for its top-tier subscribers to help them track real-time trends and get insights into discussions.
