Nigerian Fuji legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, widely known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, has sadly lost his mother, Halima Anifowoshe, who passed away at the age of 105. The musician announced the heartbreaking news on his social media accounts, sharing a photo of himself with his mother and captioning it: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi Raji’un. RIP Mama.”
This loss comes just days after KWAM 1 mourned the passing of one of his wives, Alhaja Hafsat Ajoke Anifowoshe, who died on Tuesday due to an undisclosed illness. She was buried shortly afterward at Abari cemetery in Lagos, in accordance with Muslim traditions.
In response to this tragic news, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, expressed his condolences on X: “On behalf of my family, I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the renowned Fuji maestro, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), who has recently experienced a double loss. The deaths of his ex-wife, Alhaja Hafsat Ajoke Anifowoshe, and his mother, Alhaja Halima Shadiya Anifowoshe, within such a short span are indeed devastating. I offer my condolences to him and his family during this difficult time of mourning. May Almighty Allah provide them with the strength to endure this irreplaceable loss, forgive the sins of the departed, and grant them eternal peace.”
