Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has once again rejected speculations regarding the recent cabinet reshuffle that impacted the Chief of Staff, the Secretary to the State Government, and five commissioners. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday during a state executive council meeting at Government House, Governor Yusuf dismissed the political implications associated with this significant cabinet change.
The governor emphasized that the reshuffle was made in good faith and aimed at benefiting Kano.
“In recent times, we have made several decisions within the administration, including the cabinet reshuffle. Consequently, some individuals lost their positions while others were reassigned to different roles. I want to remind the public that this action was taken in the best interest of the people of Kano,” stated Governor Yusuf.
He highlighted the necessity of replacing certain commissioners to inject new energy that would enhance government policies. He noted that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) administration is committed to delivering the promised dividends of democracy, and the urgency to fulfill campaign promises also warranted the cabinet changes.
With the recent appointment of seven new commissioners who have been screened and approved by the state Assembly, Governor Yusuf pointed out that the cabinet has been revitalized with fresh ideas aimed at advancing social and infrastructural development in the state.
The governor clarified that those removed from the state executive council would not be excluded from the administration, assuring that they would be given other roles to serve the state. “We have committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to our people. Unfortunately, we are already pressed for time to fulfill our promises. Therefore, we need to implement changes promptly. We have reshuffled the cabinet to enhance the system.

“I also want to emphasize that those affected have not been permanently removed. We have other positions available for them, and I urge everyone to accept this decision as it stands. For those who have been reassigned, we encourage them to apply their previous experiences in their new roles,” the governor added.
Additionally, Governor Yusuf announced that the new commissioners would participate in the next executive council meeting, where their specific portfolios will be revealed.
