Grammys 2025: Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Asake, Rema, and others receive nominations.

Nominations at the Grammys symbolize the courage to dream big and serve as a reminder that resilience and passion can make anything achievable. For Burna Boy, Tems, Asake, and others, these nominations are the result of years spent believing in the ability of African music to cross boundaries.

Music enthusiasts around the globe are abuzz with excitement as the Recording Academy unveils the much-anticipated 67th Grammy nominations. What has particularly thrilled fans is the Best African Music Performance category, where every nomination celebrates the brilliance of Nigerian artistry.

Nigeria has dominated the Grammy spotlight this year, with the Best African Music Performance category exclusively showcasing Nigerian talents, reaffirming the global impact of Nigerian music. Heavyweight Burna Boy returns to the competition with a nomination for his hit “Higher,” while Asake teams up with Wizkid on “MMS” to vie for the prestigious award. Davido secures his second nomination in this category, this time alongside Lojay, who receives his first Grammy nod for their collaboration on Chris Brown’s “Sensational.”

Yemi Alade receives her first solo nomination for “Tomorrow,” while Tems makes her mark with “Love Me Jeje,” completing a star-studded lineup of Nigerian artists.

But Tems isn’t stopping there—she’s the only African artist with multiple nominations in global categories this year. Her debut album, Born in the Wild, is in the running for Best Global Music Album, alongside Rema, who is nominated for his sophomore album, HEIS.

In addition to the African and global categories, Tems also shines in Best R&B Song for “Burning,” a standout track from her album that has resonated with listeners worldwide.

Making an unexpected impact, Nigerian-American country artist Shaboozey receives five nominations, making history with nods for Song of the Year and Best Country Solo Performance for his viral hit, “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

With added recognition from the David Guetta remix, which earned a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Shaboozey’s genre-blending influence continues with a nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his contribution to Beyoncé’s “Spaghetti.”
