The 31-year-old controversial Zazoo singer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, made a surprising declaration on Thursday, stating that he is mentally stable and healthy. He expressed this in front of Magistrate O.L. Oke at the Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to DANDALI, the singer was declared wanted by the Ogun State police command on Monday for allegedly assaulting three officials from the Ogun Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). Following this announcement, Portable took to Instagram on Tuesday, claiming he was a madman receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro, Abeokuta. He stated, “I fear the government. I am a federal government liability. I’m a madman; I take medications regularly. You can confirm this with Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients. I am from Abeokuta, and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief; I help those around me without considering their backgrounds.”
In response, police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated, “Portable will come and submit himself. He cannot be in the psychiatric hospital in Aro. Everyone knows he is a wanted person. If he is in any facility, the police must be informed. He is a wanted man.”
DANDALI reports that less than 48 hours after being declared wanted, Portable turned himself in. When he appeared before Magistrate O.L. Oke on Thursday, he assured the court that he was fine. Magistrate Oke asked him, “Are you alright? Are you sure you are mentally sound? If not, we have several psychiatric homes we can send you to.” Portable responded, “I am mentally alright.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the five charges against him and was granted bail of N2 million, along with a surety of the same amount. The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 5.
