Hanks Anuku expresses that “some of my colleagues are quite wicked” as he shares his thoughts on Nollywood.

Legendary Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has opened up about the darker side of the film industry, revealing that some of his colleagues engage in diabolical practices. This revelation came during a candid discussion about his experiences and relationships with fellow actors in Nollywood.

In an insightful interview with Emma Labista on the popular podcast “Nollywood Hardcore,” Anuku shared the challenges he faced in his career, particularly highlighting the jealousy that some of his peers exhibited towards his success. He emphasized that this envy led to instances of blackmail, where colleagues attempted to undermine him out of spite.

During a segment of the interview, Labista posed a thought-provoking question: “What is your relationship with your colleagues?” Anuku’s response reflected a philosophical outlook on life and the entertainment industry. He stated, “In life, we must always keep space for falling down and standing up again. There was a bit of diabolism in the industry.”

He elaborated on the toxic environment, saying, “Some people were diabolical, some were envious and jealous of my shine then. I was blackmailed.” This acknowledgment of the challenges he faced sheds light on the competitive nature of Nollywood, where ambition can sometimes lead to unethical behavior among peers.

Anuku’s experiences serve as a reminder of the complexities within the entertainment world, where talent and success can attract both admiration and hostility. His willingness to speak out about these issues not only highlights the need for transparency in the industry but also encourages others to navigate their careers with resilience and integrity.
