Notion, a popular productivity tool, is introducing an email service called Notion Mail at its first user conference. Right now, it’s in a testing phase and works more like a tool that connects to Gmail rather than a standalone email service. The goal is to create an email experience that is more flexible and tailored to how users work, moving away from the traditional rigid inbox.
The exact launch date for Notion Mail isn’t clear yet; the company just says it will be available “soon.” However, there is a waitlist for those who want to try it out early.
Notion, which now has over 100 million users, is expanding its features. This email service comes just a few months after they launched a Calendar tool, which they developed after buying a calendar app called Cron in 2022. They also recently acquired Skiff, a platform focused on security that includes an encrypted email service. So, it’s no surprise that Notion Mail will include some design elements from Skiff. However, the main focus for Notion Mail seems to be on integrating with Notion’s AI features rather than just security.
The AI integration has two main parts: it will help organize your emails automatically and allow Notion AI to assist with tasks like scheduling and following up on emails. How well this will work in real life is still uncertain.

One feature that Notion Mail will have, which many users wish Gmail had, is the ability to prioritize emails within filtered views. While Gmail offers a “priority inbox” for the main inbox, it doesn’t let you prioritize emails in its other categories like forums or updates.
Another useful feature is that users will be able to add a scheduling button in their emails that links directly to their calendars, making it easier to manage appointments.
Notion is rolling out several new features along with Mail. One of these is Notion Forms, which allows users to create forms to gather information and store it easily within Notion. They’re also making it simpler to adjust the layout of your tasks, notes, and documents so they look the way you want.
Additionally, Notion has improved its automation tools, so you can link Notion with Gmail. This means you can send notifications to people using Gmail. Lastly, Notion has revamped its Marketplace for a better online experience.
