“I am more than just the mother of Wizkid’s child – Jada Pollock.”

Jada Pollock, the talent manager and mother of Wizkid’s children, recently opened up about the difficulties she faces being referred to primarily as a “baby mama.” In a candid interview with BET UK, she shared her frustrations regarding how society often defines her through her relationship with the renowned artist, rather than recognizing her own accomplishments and contributions to the industry.

During the interview, Jada highlighted a specific incident that exemplified her struggle with this labeling. Following Wizkid’s historic Grammy win, she released a heartfelt statement celebrating the progress and recognition of Afrobeat music on a global scale. However, she was disheartened to see that media outlets chose to present her statement with the headline “Wizkid’s baby mama,” which she felt undermined her entrepreneurial spirit and hard work.

“When Wizkid won a Grammy, I wrote a statement about how far Afrobeat has come. They published the statement, and the caption was ‘Wizkid baby mama.’ The narrative does not recognise that you’re an entrepreneur and a hardworking businesswoman. I’m not only a mother but also a manager, and I’ve helped build a legacy,” Jada expressed.

Jada’s role extends far beyond being a mother. As a talent manager, she has played a vital part in shaping the careers of various artists, including Wizkid himself. Her dedication to the music industry and her commitment to promoting Afrobeat have established her as a significant figure in the field. She emphasizes that her identity encompasses her professional endeavors, and she wishes to be acknowledged for her achievements rather than being reduced to a relational label.

Jada and Wizkid began their romantic relationship in 2014 and welcomed their first child, Zion, in 2017. Their family grew in 2022 with the birth of their second son, AJ. Through her experiences as a mother and a businesswoman, Jada aims to inspire others to recognize the multifaceted roles women.
