Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has disclosed that her activism for justice for the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has led to harsh criticism and serious allegations against her. In a recent interview on ‘Glass House’ with AY, Ojo stated that she was accused of murdering Mohbad and of exploiting his death for attention.
She emphasized that, contrary to these accusations, her true intention was to seek justice for the deceased music star. Ojo remarked, “They were even suggesting that I might have killed Mohbad. I wasn’t present when he died, and I wasn’t close to him. I didn’t know him well.”
She recalled her limited interaction with him during the One Africa music fest, describing him as a nice person who had his struggles while pursuing his music career. “If I had killed him, why would I be fighting for his body to be exhumed for an autopsy? People once claimed I was being paid for my activism regarding Mohbad’s justice and even suggested I sought a political position.”
Ojo added, “They accused me of using this situation for clout. So many things have been said about me, but I’m not bothered because that’s not true. All I wanted was to help seek justice for the late singer.”
