“I would have been more successful than Wizkid if I hadn’t had a falling out with PSquare.” – May D

Nigerian singer Mr. May D has recently stirred controversy by stating that his Grammy-winning counterpart, Wizkid, would not have reached his current level of success had he not experienced a fallout with his former record label, Square Records. This assertion came during a heated exchange on X (formerly Twitter) with fans of Wizkid, where emotions ran high.

In his comments, Mr. May D expressed his frustration about the circumstances that led to his split from PSquare, a popular music duo that played a significant role in his early career. He emphasized that if it weren’t for the issues he faced with the group, he believes he would have been in a much stronger position within the music industry.

He provocatively stated, “If no be wetin happen between me and Psquare, who be Wiz [Wizkid]? Chai,” highlighting his belief that his career trajectory could have been very different. This statement not only reflects his feelings of rivalry but also sheds light on the competitive nature of the Nigerian music scene, where artists often measure their success against one another.

Mr. May D’s comments have ignited discussions among fans and critics alike, with many weighing in on the dynamics of the music industry and the impact of personal relationships on an artist’s career. As the conversation unfolds, it raises questions about the significance of collaborations and partnerships in achieving success in the music world.

May D alleged that he faced backlash from Wizkid fans after posting a message praising Davido. He stated, “Because I mentioned Davido, Wizkid’s fans are coming after me. Lmao, even Wiz knows I have love for him, but if you all keep attacking me, I’ll take you down along with your boss.” He added, “Even Wizkid knows his boundaries! Don’t mess with me.”
