The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to address the security issues affecting various regions of the country. Egbetokun made this statement in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, during the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Ogbona Divisional Police office and the handover of a police patrol vehicle along with four motorcycles to the State police command.
According to Daily Trust, the police station, which features a modern ICT security command and control center, was constructed and outfitted by the Ogbona Youth Forum (OYF) in partnership with Mr. Peter Omoh Dunia, the Executive Director of Inter-Atlas Synergy Ltd.
The IGP, represented by Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 Benin, AIG Arungwa Nwaziue Udo, stated that community collaboration is crucial for addressing insecurity and fostering peaceful coexistence.
Over 10 million Nigerians are receiving care under the basic health care provision fund, according to the FG. Speaker Abbas and others have urged the IGP to take action against gender-based violence. “We live in a modern world, and high-tech policing is essential these days. It plays a critical role in tracking and monitoring individuals with criminal intentions,” he remarked. He noted that the police cannot be omnipresent, which underscores the necessity for ongoing public support and collaboration. “Policing is a collective responsibility. Community efforts in this regard would aid in combating insecurity nationwide,” he added.
Dunia also urged the police to adopt information and communications technology (ICT) for security surveillance and other anti-crime initiatives to effectively address the challenges of contemporary community policing. He highlighted the importance of Public Private Partnership (PPP) to ensure the success of the current campaign against insecurity in the country and to effectively tackle crimes at the local level.

“The decision to initiate this project stemmed from the conviction that security is fundamental to development. Without peace and safety, no society can prosper, businesses cannot thrive, and families cannot succeed,” he stated. He acknowledged that the community had been struggling with insufficient security infrastructure, prompting him to take action to bring about lasting change. “This new Divisional Police Station is outfitted with modern amenities that will improve the police’s efficiency and effectiveness in protecting lives and property,” he remarked.
He urged community members to take ownership of the facility and support the officers in creating an environment where everyone feels safe and secure.
