Increased worries about the return of violent confrontations in Kano

Residents of Kano are voicing heightened worries regarding the resurgence of violent confrontations among rival gangs, especially following a recent altercation after a football match at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata. The incident, which resulted in at least two fatalities, involved hoodlums wielding dangerous weapons attacking shops in Zango Quarters and Yakasai near Rimi Market, where they stole mobile phones and damaged properties.

Community members, such as Umar Tijjani from Yakasai, have expressed concerns about the rising fear of retaliatory attacks, prompting many to remain indoors after evening prayers.

Even personnel at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital are in danger, with one nurse recently being stabbed by the thugs.
