INEC to Commence Collation of Edo Election Results Soon.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the timeline for the collation of results from the recent governorship election held in Edo State. This announcement comes as a crucial step in the electoral process, ensuring transparency and timely communication to the public.

As voters eagerly await the outcome, the collation period will play a significant role in determining the next governor of Edo State. INEC’s commitment to a structured and efficient process aims to bolster confidence in the electoral system and provide clarity to all stakeholders involved.

The announcement is expected to draw attention from various political parties, candidates, and citizens alike, as they closely monitor the developments. INEC’s efforts to facilitate a smooth collation process reflect its dedication to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that every vote counts.

Tension has arisen in the state due to delays in the formal announcement of election results. The situation has prompted concerns among political stakeholders and the general public, as they await clarity on the outcomes of the Edo State Governors Election. The atmosphere remains charged as various parties express their frustrations over the slow pace of the collation process.

In a statement, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, announced that the collation of results would begin at 10am. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during this critical time, assuring everyone that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is committed to conducting the process transparently and in accordance with established laws and guidelines.

Obaseki’s visit to the INEC office has added to the tension. The governor, accompanied by his security aides, entered the office for a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioner that lasted over an hour. His presence raised eyebrows, particularly among supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who protested outside the office, claiming it was inappropriate for him to meet with INEC officials during the election process.

Despite the protests, the leader of the APC supporters was eventually allowed to join the closed-door meeting. This move highlights the contentious atmosphere surrounding the election and the differing perspectives of the political parties involved. Obaseki left the INEC office around 4:45am, but his security personnel prevented journalists from approaching him for comments.

The INEC has reassured the public that the collation process is being conducted transparently, emphasizing their dedication to ensuring a credible and accurate outcome. They expressed gratitude for the patience and cooperation of all parties involved as they work toward concluding the process.

Meanwhile, the electoral commission has uploaded results on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), providing a source of information for stakeholders and the public. As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on INEC to deliver a free, fair, and transparent election in Edo State.
