Jude Okoye Granted N100m Bail in Alleged N1.38bn Fraud Case

Jude Okoye, the former manager of the now-defunct music group P-Square, has been granted bail amounting to N100 million. This decision was made on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, as he prepares for his trial concerning serious allegations of money laundering involving an estimated N1.38 billion, along with approximately $1 million and £34,537.59.

According to reports from DANDALI, Okoye was brought before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was remanded in Ikoyi prison on the preceding Friday. The charges against him are part of a broader investigation into financial misconduct, which has raised significant concerns within the industry.

As part of the bail conditions, Okoye is required to provide two sureties, each possessing properties in Lagos valued at N100 million. This requirement aims to ensure his presence during the trial proceedings. Furthermore, he is prohibited from traveling outside Nigeria without obtaining prior approval from the court, a measure designed to prevent any potential flight risk.

Jude Okoye’s trial is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025. The case has garnered considerable media attention, highlighting ongoing issues related to financial crimes in the entertainment sector and the legal repercussions facing those involved in such activities. The outcome of this trial could have significant implications not only for Okoye but also for the broader music industry in Nigeria.
