Kunle Ogunrombi, known as K-Peace, a former winner of Nigerian Idol, has accused the show’s organizers of failing to pay him his prize money. The season 5 champion made this claim during an interview on the latest episode of the ‘Honest Bunch Podcast’ with Nedu Wazobia.
According to DANDALI, K-Peace was declared the winner of the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5 in 2015. Reflecting on his experience ten years later, he shared in a viral video on social media that the organizers did not deliver on the promised prizes.
Expressing his frustration and disappointment, he stated, “I came out of the Nigerian Idol platform with zero naira in my account.” Speaking in pidgin English, he added, “As the Nigerian Idol winner, I walked all over Lagos for interviews without food in my stomach, despite winning N7.5 million.
“They announced that I had won N7.5 million. When I inquired about the prize, they told me they were still branding the car. What was announced on national TV was that I won N7.5 million, a brand new car, and a two-week trip to Dubai. I went through hell after winning the show.”
Nigerian Idol is a music talent reality show.
