Kaduna provides N100,000 and smartphones to freed minors

Thirty-nine children from Kaduna State, who had previously been detained by the federal government, have been joyfully reunited with their families. This significant event marks a positive step towards their reintegration into society.

The reunion took place on Wednesday at the “Children’s Homes” located along Katuru Road in Kaduna. As part of the reintegration process, each child was presented with N100,000 and an Itel A18s smartphone, symbolizing support for their new beginnings.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, attended the event. He expressed the government’s commitment to providing ongoing support to the children as they transition back into their communities.

Dr. Meyere emphasized the importance of rehabilitation and empowerment opportunities, highlighting the government’s dedication to helping these children grow into responsible and law-abiding citizens.

He also mentioned that the governor had instructed him to gather credentials from those who have completed their tertiary education. This initiative aims to offer various forms of support, including financial assistance for starting businesses and skills training.

In addition to educational support, the government is also looking into potential employment opportunities for the children, ensuring they have a pathway to a successful future.

To facilitate proper tracking and follow-up, contact information for each child was recorded. This includes addresses, phone numbers, and next-of-kin details, allowing for continued support and monitoring of their progress.

Overall, the event signifies a hopeful new chapter for these children, as the government pledges to stand by them during their reintegration journey, fostering a nurturing environment for their growth and development.
