Kaduna State Reassesses Security Conditions, Eases 24-Hour Curfew

The Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Kaduna and Zaria towns. Following this assessment, the council has unanimously agreed to ease the previously imposed 24-hour curfew that was enacted on August 4th, 2024. This decision reflects the council’s commitment to balancing public safety with the need for residents to engage in their daily activities.

In a statement released by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, the council announced that the curfew will now be in effect from 6pm to 8am each day. This adjustment allows citizens to move about freely and conduct their legitimate activities during the daytime hours of 8am to 6pm, providing a reprieve from the restrictions that had been in place.

Aruwan emphasized that while the curfew has been relaxed, the security forces will remain vigilant and will enforce the new curfew hours strictly. The council is committed to maintaining peace and security in the state and will take necessary actions to prevent any potential disruptions during the hours when movement is permitted.

Moreover, the statement underlined the importance of cooperation among citizens in adhering to the curfew regulations. The Kaduna State Security Council reiterated its dedication to ensuring the safety of all residents and will continue to monitor the situation closely to adapt its strategies as needed.

The revised curfew will take effect starting tomorrow, Thursday, August 8th, 2024. The council urges all citizens to comply with the new regulations and remain aware of the ongoing security efforts in the region to foster a safe environment for everyone.
