Kano Establishes Judicial Committee to Investigate Protest-Related Loss of Lives



In the wake of recent disturbances in Kano, the Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has established a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the vandalism, injuries, and loss of lives that occurred during the protest.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, announced the decision while addressing journalists.

The governor expressed deep regret over the disturbances caused by individuals driven by self-interest.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring justice for all victims and maintaining peace and stability in Kano State.

The government is taking proactive measures to restore order and ensure the well-being and security of all citizens.

Normalcy is gradually being restored across the state, with authorities remaining vigilant.

The government has commenced prosecution for over 600 individuals suspected of orchestrating the unrest.

Additionally, the governor has mandated the resumption of entrepreneurship and skills acquisition centers to foster self-reliance among young people.

The Kiru Reformatory Institute has been renovated and will soon provide support and rehabilitation services for youth affected by substance abuse.

The government encourages citizens to participate in the initiative by offering information to the Commission of Inquiry, which will be announced soon, and calls for peace and cooperation during this challenging period.
