Kano Governor Nominates Inuwa Commissioner Internal Security

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has formally requested the approval of the Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA) to appoint retired Inuwa Idris as a commissioner and member of the state executive council. The governor’s letter, addressed to Speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore, was read during an emergency plenary session of the house.

Majority Leader Lawan Husseini emphasized the significance of filling the vacant position, highlighting its potential to enhance security in the state. Following a thorough discussion, the house unanimously adopted a resolution to invite the nominee for screening on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

This development comes after the house approved the creation of new ministries in March 2024, including the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services, which Inuwa Idris is expected to lead.

In a separate matter, the house urged the state government to construct five bridges destroyed by heavy rainfall in the Garun Malam local government area. The destroyed bridges have rendered some communities inaccessible and affected approximately 200 farmlands, exacerbating the need for swift action.

The Kano State House of Assembly’s swift response to the governor’s request and their attention to the infrastructure needs of the state demonstrate their commitment to addressing pressing security and development concerns.
