Kano State Poised to Earn One Billion Naira From Mining Operations

The Kano State Government is poised to boost its annual revenue by at least One Billion Naira through mining activities within the state. This announcement was made by Alhaji Safiyanu Hamza Kachako, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, during a live radio program. The establishment of the ministry by Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf aims to leverage the state’s rich mineral resources for economic advancement.

Alhaji Kachako emphasized that plans are in advanced stages to collaborate with stakeholders both locally and internationally to maximize the potential of the state’s solid mineral resources. This collaboration is essential for driving overall economic development in Kano State.

In a statement from the Director of Public Enlightenment, Adamu Ibrahim Dabo Dawakin Tofa, it was highlighted that the ministry has developed an action plan to complement government efforts in creating job opportunities for youth. This plan also focuses on safeguarding the interests of licensed and artisanal miners, as well as protecting host communities and the environment.

To ensure sustainable mining practices, the Commissioner noted the importance of continuous environmental impact assessments and adherence to corporate social responsibilities by mining companies operating in the state. Currently, the ministry is welcoming registrations from both licensed and artisanal miners at its office located on the Ground Floor of Gidan Murtala.
