Katsina Police Command Emphasize Preparedness To Maintain Law, Order During Protest

The Katsina State Police Command is actively monitoring the upcoming nationwide mass protest set for August 1st, 2024. This information was disclosed by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Katsina Command. The police are taking this situation seriously, recognizing the potential implications for public order and safety.

Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar Musa has publicly acknowledged the citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful assembly and protest. However, he has also stressed the importance of ensuring that these rights do not compromise public safety or infringe upon the rights of others. The balance between upholding civil liberties and maintaining order is a priority for the police.

In preparation for the protest, a strategic meeting was convened with heads of various security agencies within the state. This collaborative effort aims to reinforce existing security measures and ensure a coordinated response to any potential disruptions. The police, along with military and other security forces, are committed to preventing any breakdown of law and order surrounding the event.

The Katsina State Police Command is urging law-abiding citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative with security agencies during this period. They emphasize the importance of community support in maintaining peace and order. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities that may threaten public safety.

Lastly, the organizers of the protest have been called upon to ensure that their event remains peaceful and lawful. The police have made it clear that any actions that jeopardize the safety of others or disrupt the peace will not be tolerated. By adhering to these guidelines, the hope is to facilitate a safe environment for expression while protecting the rights and safety of all citizens.
