Keyboard Company Halts U.S. Shipments Due To Trump Tariffs On Chinese Products

On Wednesday, the company Qwertykeys, which makes mechanical keyboards, announced that it will stop shipping all its products to the United States. This decision is due to new taxes, known as tariffs, imposed by the Trump administration. These tariffs were officially announced on February 1 and set at 10% for many goods imported from China.

Qwertykeys explained that this new policy has done away with previous exemptions that allowed some shipments to avoid tariffs if their value was less than $800. Because of this change, all keyboards shipped from China to the U.S. now face a steep 45% tax based on their total value.

Additionally, DHL, a major logistics company responsible for shipping packages, has added its own fees. They now require a “tariff deposit,” plus a new $21 fee for processing packages.

Qwertykeys is one of the first companies from China to stop its shipments due to these significantly rising costs. They are likely not alone in facing these challenges, as many smaller companies are struggling with the increased expenses, which can affect their profits.
