Kunle Afolayan Shares the Secret to His Successful Career.

Kunle Afolayan disclosed that the secret to his successful career lies in maintaining consistency and staying authentic. He mentioned that he isn’t shifting his focus, as he has his Kunle Afolayan Production (KAP) Film Village.

Veteran Nigerian actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has looked back on his journey in the film industry and shared his insights on his future creative endeavors. In a recent discussion at the Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) Film and Television Academy, Afolayan emphasized his commitment to fostering growth and empowering others through his KAP Film Village, a 60-acre facility that provides accommodation, hands-on training, and a space for creative expression.

Kunle Afolayan stressed that the foundation of his successful career lies in remaining authentic and consistent with his values and artistic vision. He pointed out that his accomplishments reflect his dedication to his craft and beliefs.

In his word

“There’s no reason to hesitate—have you visited KAP Village? Once you go there, you might not want to return to Lagos. KAP Village spans 60 acres and features 70 hotel-style accommodations, comparable to those in South Africa or Kenya. Additionally, the school’s head office will eventually be located there, as it’s a spacious venue for practical activities and a true destination. My focus is solely on personal growth, empowering others, making a positive impact, and sharing stories.”

Here’s a rewritten version:

“My secret lies in my consistency and authenticity. If I dislike something, I’ll express that clearly. What I rejected 20 years ago remains the same today—I simply won’t engage with it. My achievements reflect that I must be doing something right. While I may not be perfect, I’ve remained true to my art, craft, and beliefs. Business is important, but you won’t watch my films and think, ‘He compromised for business.’ I strive to enhance the quality so that, even from a commercial perspective, it represents a strong brand. I’m not the only filmmaker in Nigeria, but if you’re fortunate enough to begin a journey and progress step by step, it shows you’re on the right track.”
