The annual Lagos Tech Summit returned in 2025 with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology. The event, held at the Eko Convention Centre, attracted over 10,000 participants, including industry leaders, policymakers, and tech enthusiasts.

Speakers at the summit included experts from top global firms such as IBM, OpenAI, and Binance. Discussions centered on the transformative potential of AI and blockchain in industries like finance, agriculture, and logistics. For example, blockchain is being explored as a solution for land ownership disputes in Nigeria, ensuring transparency and security in property transactions.

A standout session featured Nigerian tech entrepreneur Ifeanyi Okeke, who shared insights on how his AI-powered platform is helping businesses optimize operations and reduce costs. He stressed the need for local developers to tailor solutions to address specific African challenges.

The summit also hosted a hackathon where participants developed innovative solutions using AI and blockchain. The winning team created a blockchain-based system for tracking and verifying agricultural produce, aiming to enhance food security and export quality.

Organizers announced plans to expand the summit’s reach, incorporating more cities across Nigeria in the coming years. This move is expected to democratize access to cutting-edge knowledge and foster innovation nationwide.
