Meek Mill proposes to purchase TikTok.

American rapper Meek Mill has expressed a keen interest in acquiring TikTok, particularly in light of the app’s looming potential ban in the United States. This development follows a significant legislative move by President Joe Biden in April 2024, who enacted a law requiring TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to either divest the platform or cease its operations within a month, with a deadline set for January 19.

In December, TikTok took action by appealing this law to the US Supreme Court, shortly after a notable meeting between CEO Shou Zi Chew and President-elect Donald Trump. During a press conference, Trump acknowledged having a “soft spot” for TikTok, indicating that his administration would carefully evaluate the app’s future, including the possibility of a ban.

As ByteDance awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling, which will ultimately decide the fate of TikTok in the U.S. market, Meek Mill has made his intentions clear. He took to social media platform X to state, “Sell TikTok to me.” He further remarked, “If they cut off TikTok, we’re going to X and Fanbase,” suggesting that he sees alternative platforms as viable options for users if TikTok is no longer available.

This scenario highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding TikTok’s operations in the U.S. and the increasing interest from various parties in the app’s future. As the legal battle unfolds, the implications for users and the social media landscape remain significant.
