Nigerian gospel artist Mercy Chinwo has issued a statement through her lawyers regarding the lawsuit against her former label head, Ezekiel ThankGod, commonly known as Eezee Concept. In a press release shared on her Instagram, Chinwo reflected on her journey with the music producer, starting as his background singer and eventually becoming his client.
She mentioned that she signed her first contract in 2017, but the dates were later modified to 2019. Chinwo stated that Eezee Concept proposed to extend her initial five-year contract to 12 years, which she declined due to other commitments.
After four years into the contract, Chinwo described the relationship as toxic, claiming she endured verbal and emotional abuse. She alleged that Eezee Concept made threatening statements like, “I will deal with you, I will mess you up, I made you who you are. I can shut you up, and nobody will hear you again, and I will destroy your career.”
Additionally, Chinwo accused the label owner of misleading event organizers about her availability. She clarified that she has not filed a lawsuit against Eezee Concept to reclaim her catalog; instead, she only wants him to publicly release the first three pages and the execution page of the contract she signed in 2017, which he allegedly altered.
