Minister Expresses Regret
Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, expressed his sorrow over the destruction of a technology hub in Kano, which was set to be launched just days later. The Digital Innovation Park, intended to support Nigeria’s technical talent accelerator program (3MTT), was reportedly burned down and looted during the protests on Thursday.
Tijani expressed his disappointment in a post via X on Thursday, stating, “Sad to learn that our Digital Innovation Park in Kano slated for launch next week to support our technical talent accelerator (3MTT) has been set ablaze and looted by protesters.”

The incident took place amidst wider unrest in Kano, where protesters also targeted the yet-to-be-commissioned Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park.
Tijani emphasized the immediate impact of this destruction on planned initiatives, saying, “Alongside #3MTT, this building is set to host our buildathon holiday maker program for secondary school kids starting next week.”
The minister described the damage as a setback for the efforts to enhance the workforce for technology and create job opportunities for the youth. He also lamented the financial loss, stating, “Millions of Naira down the drain.”
