Naira Marley states, “You aren’t a true Muslim if you don’t believe in Jesus.”

Popular singer Abdulazeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has recently expressed his perspective on the significance of Jesus in Islam. In a statement shared on his X handle, he asserted that any Muslim who does not believe in Jesus is not a true Muslim. He wrote, “No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (Peace be upon him).”

Naira Marley’s comments come amid a series of religious reflections he has been sharing since the beginning of Ramadan, a holy month observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and reflection. His latest post has ignited a lively debate in the comments section, drawing responses from both Christians and Muslims regarding their respective beliefs about Jesus.

The differing views on Jesus are a fundamental aspect of the theological divide between Christianity and Islam. Christians regard Jesus as God or the Son of God, central to their faith and salvation. They celebrate his life, crucifixion, and resurrection, viewing him as the divine figure who offers redemption to humanity.

In contrast, Muslims honor Jesus as a significant prophet of God, referring to him as Isa in Arabic. They believe he was a messenger sent to the Children of Israel, tasked with delivering the Gospel. While Muslims hold Jesus in high esteem, they do not consider him divine or the Son of God, emphasizing the oneness of God (Tawhid) as a core tenet of Islam.

Naira Marley’s remarks have prompted discussions among followers of both faiths, highlighting the need for interfaith dialogue and understanding. The singer’s influence as a public figure adds weight to the conversation, encouraging individuals to explore and respect the beliefs of others while affirming their own faith.

As the debate continues, it underscores the importance of recognizing the shared values and differences between religions, fostering a spirit of tolerance and coexistence in a diverse society.
