NDIC Approves Deposit Insurance Course In ICAN Program

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has made an important suggestion about improving education for future accountants in Nigeria. They are asking that lessons about deposit insurance be included in the courses offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

This request was brought up by Mr. Bello Hassan, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDIC, when he met with members of the ICAN Governing Council at the NDIC office in Abuja. During this visit, he talked about how important it is for accountants to understand deposit insurance, which protects people’s money in banks. He pointed out that many ICAN members are likely to work as bankers or bank examiners, so learning about deposit insurance would help them do their jobs better.

Mr. Hassan also expressed a desire for NDIC and ICAN to work together more closely. He believes that by collaborating, they can help make the banking sector in Nigeria more stable and safe for everyone.

In related news, the president of ICAN praised the NDIC, saying it is a strong organization because it follows strict rules of good management and does not tolerate corruption. He mentioned that the NDIC has been recognized for its honesty and integrity by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which ranked it highly in a recent evaluation.

Furthermore, the ICAN president highlighted their own efforts to promote honesty in different parts of the economy by creating something called the ICAN Accountability Index. This index aims to encourage good practices around how money is managed within organizations, focusing on areas like budgeting and managing assets and debts.
