Nedu Wazobia, a well-known media personality in Nigeria, has taken formal action against social media critic VeryDarkMan by serving him with a pre-action notice. This action comes in response to alleged defamatory statements that VeryDarkMan published on his social media platforms.
In a recent post on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan revealed the receipt of this notice. The legal representatives of Nedu, along with Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd, articulated their concerns regarding a 12-minute video that VeryDarkMan uploaded on both his YouTube and Instagram accounts on February 19, 2025. They assert that this video contains numerous defamatory, false, and disparaging remarks directed at their clients.
The video, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians,” has been labeled as misleading and untrue by Nedu’s legal team. They emphasized that Nedu does not own Tokindrumz; rather, he is a talent associated with the brand.
In light of these allegations, Nedu’s lawyers have made several demands from VeryDarkMan. They are requesting that he retract all videos related to Nedu from his platforms within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Additionally, they are calling for a public apology and a compensation payment of N500 million for the damage inflicted on Nedu’s reputation.
The lawyers have warned that failure to comply with these demands will lead to legal action against VeryDarkMan. In response to the notice, VeryDarkMan acknowledged it in a video shared on his Instagram account, advising his followers to brace themselves for the impending court case. He stated, “Nedu’s lawyers have served me o, so make una get ready for court case,” indicating that he is preparing for the legal proceedings ahead.
This situation highlights the ongoing tensions between public figures and the impact of social media on reputations, as well as the legal implications that can arise from defamatory statements made online.
