No Respect For Corpers Any More: Corper Posted To Marketing Company Asks For Rejection After Being Given N350M Monthly Target

A female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has gone viral after recounting her shocking experience at her place of primary assignment (PPA) at a marketing company. The corper, identified as Valerie, took to her TikTok page (@Vally_eke) to share the surprising news that she had been assigned a monthly sales target of N350 million—an amount that left her astounded.

In her video, Valerie explained that upon arriving at her PPA, she was informed that her role would involve achieving the seemingly impossible target of N350 million every month. The revelation took her by complete surprise, prompting her to immediately request a rejection letter so she could leave the company.

Wearing her NYSC khaki, Valerie shared a clip of herself walking out with a rejection letter in hand, humorously captioning the video:

“Me peacefully walking out with my rejection letter because life did not end when my PPA said I would have to reach a target of N350 million a month in the marketing sector. Where I wan see N350 million on top N33k government is paying me?”

Her post has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many expressing disbelief at the extreme nature of the target, especially given the modest NYSC allowance of N33,000. Valerie’s bold decision to walk away from what seemed like an unrealistic expectation resonated with many young Nigerians, particularly those navigating the challenges of their NYSC service year. Some praised her for standing her ground, while others questioned the company’s unrealistic demands, highlighting the need for better support and understanding for corpers in the workplace.

Valerie’s viral TikTok video serves as a reminder of the sometimes overwhelming and unreasonable expectations placed on young professionals, and the importance of knowing when to walk away from situations that don’t align with personal well-being.
