ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, acknowledged the concerns expressed by various groups and individuals regarding the welfare of police personnel. He stated that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to providing accurate information to counter these troubling allegations. The Force values public interest but insists on transparency regarding the ongoing developments.
In light of the critical state of several police barracks, including Falomo, the NPF leadership has initiated partnerships with sub-national governments and reputable developers. This collaboration aims to unlock the potential of these assets by transforming them into modern barracks equipped with complementary facilities and infrastructure. The redevelopment plans are designed to enhance living conditions for police officers and their families.
The redevelopment of Falomo Barracks is expected to be completed swiftly, after which current occupants will be offered new accommodations in the upgraded facilities. Specifically, residents of Blocks A and B at Falomo Barracks have each received a temporary relocation allowance of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000). This financial support has been provided to 347 families following a thorough validation process to ensure smooth relocation.
ACP Adejobi further clarified that the redevelopment initiative is not confined to Falomo Barracks alone. Similar projects will be rolled out across police barracks nationwide over time, reflecting a strategic commitment to improve the living conditions of officers and their families. He dismissed claims that barracks are being vacated or sold as false and misleading, asserting that these rumors aim to create unnecessary discord within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force. The improvement of these facilities remains a top priority for the NPF, and proactive measures are being taken to address existing issues effectively.
