Ogun Assembly delays the presentation of the 2025 budget due to Abiodun’s trip to France

The Ogun State House of Assembly has announced the indefinite postponement of the 2025 budget presentation, which was originally scheduled for today (Friday). This decision has raised questions and curiosity regarding the reasons behind the delay.

Clerk Sakiru Adebakin communicated this development through a statement. However, he did not specify any reasons for the postponement, leaving many in the dark about the circumstances leading to this decision.

Adebakin did mention that a new date for the annual budget presentation would be determined and announced at a later time. This has led to speculation about what might have influenced the Assembly’s decision to delay the presentation.

Sources from Daily Trust have indicated that the postponement was prompted by the absence of Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is currently on a trip to France. This revelation sheds light on the potential impact of the governor’s schedule on legislative activities.

Governor Abiodun is part of the Nigerian delegation accompanying President Bola Tinubu on a three-day visit to France. This trip highlights the importance of international relations and the role of state governors in diplomatic engagements.

On Friday, Abiodun confirmed his participation in the delegation via a post on his X account. He expressed his honor in being part of the welcoming committee for President Tinubu during a significant meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

He extended an invitation for deeper collaboration between Nigeria and France, showcasing the strategic importance of these international partnerships.
