The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is also the candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election on November 16, has announced a new minimum wage of N73,000 for civil servants in the state. This decision comes in light of a recent agreement between the federal government and organized labor, which set the minimum wage for government workers nationwide at N70,000.
During a campaign event held at the Ondo Central APC flag-off in the Ondo West Local Government Area, Aiyedatiwa shared this significant wage increase. He was joined by his deputy, Chief Olayide Adelami, along with other key party members. This announcement marks a notable step in his administration’s efforts to enhance the welfare of civil servants.
Since taking office 10 months ago following the passing of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa has focused on transforming governance in Ondo State. He emphasized the importance of improving the living standards of civil servants and ensuring their needs are met.
The governor highlighted that his administration has been proactive in offering training opportunities and promotions for state government workers. He reassured the public that the state has consistently met its obligations regarding salary payments, stating that there are no outstanding arrears.
