Over 1,000 APC members have joined the NNPP in Kano

At least 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have made a significant shift by defecting to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). This move aligns them with the Kwankwasiyya movement, which is headed by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The defection highlights a notable political transition in the region.

The mass defection occurred in the Tofa and Ghari Local Government Areas of Kano State. This change in allegiance is indicative of the growing influence of the NNPP and its appeal among the electorate. The event marks a crucial moment for the party as it gears up for the upcoming local government elections.

During a ceremony held at both locations, the new members were warmly welcomed by Dr. Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, the state party chairman. His presence underscored the importance of this event and the party’s commitment to embracing new supporters. The atmosphere was filled with optimism as the party prepares for its electoral campaign.

The ceremony also served as the official launch of the NNPP’s chairmanship campaign. This strategic move aims to solidify the party’s position as a formidable force in the local political landscape. The timing of the defection and the campaign launch is crucial as the elections approach.

Among the notable attendees were the NNPP candidates for the elections, Yakubu Ibrahim Adis from Tofa and Hashimu Mai Sabulu from Ghari. Their participation in the event signals their readiness to lead and represent the interests of their constituents. Both candidates expressed strong confidence in the NNPP’s expanding influence in the region.

The influx of new members is seen as a significant advantage for the NNPP as it prepares for the electoral battle ahead. This mass defection not only strengthens the party’s numbers but also enhances its credibility among the electorate. The party is poised to capitalize on this momentum as it seeks to secure victory in the upcoming elections.

The defection is viewed as a strategic boost for the NNPP, especially in Kano, which has historically been a stronghold of Kwankwaso’s political influence. The shift in allegiance could alter the dynamics of the political landscape in the state. The NNPP is now better positioned to challenge its opponents.

In summary, the recent defection of APC members to the NNPP represents a pivotal moment in Kano State politics. With the support of new members and the leadership of dedicated candidates, the NNPP is gearing up for a competitive electoral season. The party’s growing strength in the region could have lasting implications for the future of governance in Kano.
